ORGANIZER

The 2010 European Veterans Judo Championship will be held in the new hall Datika in Poreč from 6. to 11. of October 2010.

VENUE

The hall Datika was built in the year 2008. It is located on the entrance of the city of Poreč and ideal for hosting international sporting events. The capacity of the hall is 2500 spectators and 4 mats for fights.

CLIMATE

Poreč has a mild Mediterranean climate. The summers are delightfully warm, with low humidity and more than 10 hours of sun daily. The sea temperatures in summer has a peak of 28°C, which is higher than in the southern Adriatic. Winds in the region of Poreč are moderate and iduring summer time mostly the light mistral occours. The winters are moderate and snow is very rare.

LANGUAGE

The official language is Croatian. Many people speak English, German and Italian.

TIME ZONE

GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) +1. From March through October, during DLST it is GMT +2.

MAIN POWER

The voltage in Croatia is 230V, 50Hz, like in the rest of Europe.

CURRENCY EXCHANGE

1,- € = 7,2 HRK
The basic Croatian currency unit is KUNA. There are 1, 2 and 5 kuna coins and 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 kuna notes. 1 KUNA has 100 LIPAs, with coins ranging from 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 to 50 lipas.
Foregin currencies can be exchanged in banks, exchange offices, post office, etc.

BANK WORKING HOURS

Banks and exchange offices are open 8-19 Monday through Friday. Most shops and department stores are open non-stop 8-20 Monday through Friday, 8-15 Saturdays and 8-13 Sundays.

WORKING HOURS

Working hours of govermmental offices are 8:30-16:30 Monday through Friday, 8-15 Saturdays and 8-13 Sundays.

TIPPING

A service charge is already included in restaurants bills, but it is customary to Cround the amount of a restaurant bill.
Hotel personel usually expects a tip of 10-30 kunas for their services.

TAX FREE SHOPPING

Tourists whose purchases exceed 500 kunas may claim a VAT refund for all goods except for petroleum products with TAX-FREE Cheques stamped by the Croatian customs authorities when leaving the country. The time limit for tax refunds in one year.

CREDIT CARD

All major credit card, such as American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard/Master Card, Visa, JCB and Eurocheques, are usually accepted in Croatia and their logos are displayed in points of sale.

ALCOHOL LAW

The legal drinking age in Croatia is 18 years.

TELEPHONE

Public phones take only phone cards, which can be purchased in post offices and department stores. To call Poreč from abroad, dial the international code for Croatia 00385, the Poreč area code 52 and then the desired telephone number. GSM mobile networks are available. Check compatibility with your operator.

MEDICAL SERVICES

No vaccination or other medical certificates are required to enter Croatia. Health insurance is not mandatory. Pharmacies are open 7-20. in case of ilness or injury dial 94 free of charge to call ambulance.

POLICE

Dial 92 free of charge.

TRANSPORTATION

The Republic of Croatia is situated in Southeast Europe. It borders with Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

Croatia Airlines and foregin airline companies such as Lufthansa, Aeroflot, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, BH Airlines, CSA, German Wings, LOT, SAS, TAP Portugal, Turkish Airlanes, WIZZ Air, Air France, Malev etc. operate direct flights connecting Zagreb with 20 cityes (Brussels, Munich, Frankfurt, Vienna, Budapest, Copenhagen, Cologne, Sarajevo, Moscow, Skopje, London, Rome, Zurich, Paris, Amsterdam, Lyon, Stuttgart, etc.)

The organizer will take care of the transportation from airports (Pula, Trieste, Ljubljana, Venice, Zagreb) or train station to thr official competition hotels and competition venue during the competition. Transporteation services will be offered only to those participants who are accommodation in the official competition hotels.
